Castries, Saint Lucia
The Saint Lucia-Cuba Humanistic Solidarity Association joins the Government and People of the Republic of Cuba in paying homage to the memory of the late President, Fidel Castro Ruz, on the 4th Anniversary of his death. Our beloved leader left his earthly existence on November 25, 2016.
It is with profound gratitude that we remember Fidel and Cuba’s past and present innumerable and immeasurable humanitarian actions on the local, regional and international stage. We can never forget that it is through his vision and policies, that, over the past 40 years, Saint Lucia has benefited and continues to benefit from Cuba’s generosity in providing free tertiary education scholarships to hundreds of Saint Lucian students in various fields of academic and technical endeavor.
To date, more than 700 Saint Lucians have graduated from universities and other technical institutes in Cuba, constituting Engineers, Veterinarians, Nurses, Doctors of Medicine, Physical Education Specialists, Architects, Economists, etc., thereby contributing to the national development of Saint Lucia.
Cuba continues to provide immeasurable assistance to Saint Lucia in the health sector, through medical assistance programs, including the "Miracle Operation" Program, under which thousands of Saint Lucians continue to benefit from numerous ophthalmological interventions, as well as under the Henry Reeve Medical Brigade activities in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic on the international stage.
Our Association considers it a great privilege to be associated with Cuba's valuable presence in Saint Lucia and we avail ourselves of this opportunity to again reiterate our unwavering solidarity with the Government and People of Cuba and the Cuban Revolution inspired and consolidated for five decades by the unforgettable Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz.
